Selectively enable fingerprint authentication?

I was wondering if it was possible to allow fingerprinting for certain cases only.

For example:
Considering that if you use your fingerprint as a password, you're leaving your password on your keyboard and anything you touch. I'd like to enable sudo with the fingerprint reader, but not unlocking the laptop when it wakes up from sleep.

Is that possible?

Please have a look at the PAM documentation. You can configure different authentication methods for each service in /etc/pam.d/...
